![]() I want to outline the pros and cons for you of both apps, both of which I’ve used, so if you want to check your intake, you can make a choice based on your interests. I had heard of Cronometer from Unnatural Vegan and wanted to give it a shot since I knew it tracked lots of trace micronutrients and vitamins/minerals that MyFitnessPal missed. Not to mention that because of my ADHD, tracking helps me make sure I am actually eating what I need and when I need to rather than forgetting to eat, or over eating and hurting my stomach! Instead of a scorecard of my worth, it’s a tool for me to make sure I’m getting the micronutrients I need (my friend Emily, who I went to high school with and is now an RD, made an AWESOME comment on my IG post– and I’ll talk more about blood tests next week!) and that I’m paying attention to my nutrition as an athlete. Lots of blame, lots of ish, lots of bad headspace eventually built up so I stopped tracking for a while- and I caught myself in this mindset again at camp, so I stopped tracking until now.Īfter a lot of time to develop a healthy relationship with food, I can say that I use tracking a lot differently than I have in the past. It was once my worst enemy, telling me what I could and couldn’t eat, and the glaring red numbers if I went over my targets made me feel shame rather than a sense of ‘that’s interesting!’ So I have a long, complicated relationship with MyFitnessPal. ![]() If you remember my past blog, I talked a little bit about how a family member is on a sodium-restricted diet and I wanted to see how I do where sodium is concerned. Missed a morning alarm once before I decided enough of that.About a month ago I decided I’d start logging my food so I could make sure I was getting enough protein for my goals and keep my sodium in check. It was remarkably hard to find an app that just did this, as my default android alarm timer was tied to my alarm tone, so i'd have to switch it to vibrate and back when working out. Newly added "goodtime" for just a simple timer that will vibrate after 2 minutes, my break time between lifts. I've had great email conversations with the developer, he has a fantastic, simple development philosophy, and he has kept his app free for years now, with no ads or other BS. ![]() ![]() I add my bodyweight in there because it's cool to compare graphs of bodyweight to lifted weights. Also used for tracking bodyweight and bodyfat (only app in my list that tracks bodyfat). "FitNotes" for setting lift routines and tracking weight in lifts. Also track weight in there because I'm convinced one day google will implement some badass machine learning and I want the data there for when it happens. Not fun that I have to manually change my motorcycle rides from bike rides into not bike rides (when was the last time somebody got a bicycle up to 90mph on 280? shrug). Also fun that it automatically records my bike rides. Google Fitness for cardio maps and timing, and total gym time tracking. MFP for food/calorie, weight, and picture tracking As told I've got about 4 apps I use for fitness now: The picture+weight feature is nice though. I still am annoyed it doesn't open on diary by default. So I tried out MFP again and lo and behold, the app had improved tremendously! I used "Lose It!" for nearly 5 years because it performed much better, until it started getting extraordinarily slow when doing food searches. When I first tried it in I think 2011/2012 it was garbage on android.
